KNICKS BLOWOUT WIZARDS ON THE ROAD, MOVE TO 4-1

Dirk Nowitzki scored the first 7 points of the game and the Knicks never looked back, eventually winning by a score of 76-53. Dirk finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds in a matchup that saw the starters sitting out for most of the second half. "The bench did a great job of protecting our lead. They played smart and kept the intensity at a high level," said coach Pappy Knuckles follwing the game.

The bench of the New York Knicks scored 45 points. Leon Powe and Chris Anderson combined for 22. In his first action of the season, "Birdman" wowed the crowd with two impressive dunks. Anderson was just as entertaining in the postgame press conference. "Just because you haven't seen me on the floor doesn't mean I forgot how to fly. I've got skills homey."

Chris Anderson provided solid minutes off the bench.

The Washington Wizards looked slow and out of synch the entire game. Their trio of Jason Kidd, O.J. Mayo, and Peja Stojakovic combined for 34 points on a poor 12-37 shooting night. Memut Okur played well, finishing with 10 points and 8 rebounds. However, his play wasn't enough to swing the momentum in the Wizards favor.

J.J. Redick has struggled greatly this season. His 1-6 shooting continues a streak of poor play. Coach Knuckles spoke to reporters briefly about Redick's performance. "Look, J.J. is a hell of a shooter, but even the best shooters go through slumps. We might have to make a few adjustments but we're fine."

With Sun Yue and Julius Hodge hungry for playing time, are Redick's days in the rotation numbered?

In league news, Dirk Nowitzki ended week 2 by earning Player of the Week honors for the Eastern Conference. Lebron James of the Minnesota Timberwolves was the Western Conference winner.
